Jackson was the second public school nationwide to obtain dual certification as both an IB Primary Years Programme and a STEAM certified school. All Jackson teachers are certified in gifted education to provide above and beyond enrichment opportunities for all students. 2010 - Dr. Jane Goodall, famed paleontologist and founder of worldwide student program, Roots & Shoots, visited Jackson to personally recognize our students’ many community-service endeavors. 2010 - Jackson’s Wellness Program (a PTA initiative) was recognized and spotlighted as a role model by the Atlanta Public Schools System, and earned Jackson a Bronze award as a healthy school.

2008 - Jackson teacher, Mrs. Shanti Sparks, wrote and illustrated a book, "Honey and the Sunset." Her manuscript was selected for the Library of Congress.
